Film & TV Director
Richard Friedman is a director, writer, and producer of motion pictures, television movies, episodic TV, network specials, and music videos.
Richard just completed directing and producing a feature film, “Halfway to Hell,” a unique and compelling thriller which was picked up by Silverline Entertainment for worldwide distribution. He won "Best Director" for the film at a recent film festival.
Richard also directed and produced "5th & Alameda" starring Mario Van Peebles and Corey Sevier. The film also won numerous awards at important film festivals. Other feature films directed and produced by Richard are “BORN”, starring Alison Brie, released by Lionsgate, “DarkWolf” a horror film for Twentieth Century Fox, “Redemption of the Ghost,” starring John Savage and Diane Ladd, a captivating family motion picture and “Ground Zero,” a gripping action thriller which Richard also wrote. Richard also directed “Forever Together,” a motion picture starring Diane Ladd, Michelle Trachtenberg, Ralph Macchio, and Garry Marshall, a tender coming-of-age fantasy love story. In addition to these very successful feature films, Richard has helmed five other internationally released features.
As a television Director, Richard’s accomplishments include the extremely successful movies for television: “Shadow of a Stranger,” starring Joan Chen, which he also wrote, and “Someone’s Watching,” starring Daniel J. Travanti, and Chris Noth. In addition, Richard produced the highly rated movie, “Awake to Danger,” starring Tori Spelling.
A veteran of over thirty-five episodes of Network and Syndicated series TV, Richard has directed multiple episodes of Warner Bros.’“Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman,” “Baywatch Nights,” “Silk Stalkings,” “Friday the 13th, The TV Series,” “Tales From the Darkside,” and “Monsters.” He has also been at the helm of assorted Network reality-based specials such as “Love With a Twist,” and “Scandals II” for ABC.
Richard holds a Master of Fine Arts Degree in Motion Picture Directing and Film Production from New York University’s prestigious Graduate School of Film. He is a member of the Director’s Guild of America, Writer’s Guild of America, and Television Academy of Arts and Sciences, and currently resides in Los Angeles, California with his wife and twins.
